Jilly’s 28 Days Of Unreason Poetry – Day 11
Write a poem inspired by this quote:
“Nearly everything we are taught is false except how to read” – Jim Harrison – from Songs of Unreason
As I examine all I have been taught
through many years of trials and seasons
I have changed the way I once thought…
What I once thought was truth
has now become falsity
and with new eyes I now see
a whole different type of reality
Things in my life I wanted to be false
I had to accept as the painful truth
all things I had desired to be true
I have discovered to not be realistic
but a fantasized dream that helped
me to cope and keep alive deceitful hope
Now, many years later I have learned
to accept all truth albeit painful or delightful
and let go of the false while holding on to truth…
Knowing that all these things led me
to always seek enlightened Wisdom
and let not falsity to ever have the power
to become my reality again on this sojourn

Transparent poem! I applaud your honesty about how we see the world and how we deceive ourselves for survival’s sake. Outstanding take on the prompt!
