The Haunted Wordsmith Opposites Attract Challenge #16
For this challenge, I provide one word and a list of its antonyms. The challenge is to use the prompt word AND one (or more) of its antonyms in some form of writing (or creative work).
Today’s word: crowded
Antonyms: bare, blank, devoid, empty, stark, vacant, void
Oh this mind…crowded
with so many thoughts
some that are welcome
and others that are not
~ * ~
The ones that are welcome here
bare my soul without any fear
a few of the thoughts can sometimes
leave me devoid of joy
~ * ~
Once in awhile I can blank out
on a precious thought
I so desperately wanted to keep
leaving a brokenness to weep
~ * ~
Then there are some
painful memories of the past
can leave an empty feeling on
what never came to pass
~ * ~
Remembrance of a time or two
when it felt like this soul
had almost been destroyed
these are the ones difficult to void
~ * ~
But all in all,
when it comes down to it
each and every thought,
memory, and remembrance is…
~ * ~
An exquisite rose with thorns
that His love will always adorn
with a crown of beauty
beholding Wisdom’s jewels
~ * ~
This, can only be gifted
through each step we take
of our spiritual pilgrimage
towards Eternity’s Gate.
