Frank J. Tassone Haikai Challenge (6/8/19): fragrant breeze (kunpuu) – This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to a fragrant breeze (kunpuu). And even though it has already passed, you may also allude to the 75th D-Day Anniversary.
Oftentimes we have summer in our soul and at other times we do not depending on our “spiritual seasons.” And for some depending on where they live they get to enjoy a whole entire season of summer outside. But for some of us who live in a different type of area, even though the season is called “summer” the weather contradicts the definition of that word. Then when there is an actual summer day, warm with calm winds, because of trials inside it is the dead of Winter. But the good news is if the soul clings tight to Hope’s surfboard and breathes the waves will hush because it embraced the dark shadow, redeemed it and so becomes whole to once again have summer in the soul…which is the good that always comes from each and every season embraced.

Inner and outer seasons – not always in sync. I resonate with this.
