  1. Deborah, I may have an unusual take on this lovely poem. This middle portion stands out to me:

    “be still…listen

    embrace

    then, only then

    will its voice be set free”

    To me, the way the soul could soar is after listening to words that had caused her fear, then recognizing that the fear was only due to not understanding before. Once she did, her spirit was free. Fear plays on ignorance. When you listen and inform yourself, you realize the fearmongers are just blowing smoke. Keith
