Heavenly Perfection

Sammi Cox Weekend Writing Prompt #3 – Imperfect

Poetry Challenge – Write a poem of at least ten lines, where every other line contains the word “imperfect” or one of its synonyms.

Heavenly Perfection

The imperfect soul a beautiful thing
makes the angels in heaven rejoice and sing
its plethora of flaws the world calls ugly
but in this the spiritual eye sees transparent beauty
In its brokenness the soul learns compassion
and pours this out on others undone
Inferior is how others may view an unfinished soul
but in the hand of God it becomes refined gold
Incomplete, unpolished is what we are on this earth
until heavenly perfection completes its rebirth

In The Unseen Realm

Sammi Cox Weekend Writing Prompt #13 – Light

Poetry Challenge – Write a poem of no more than 15 lines about “Light and Dark”, that repeats at least two lines of the poem.

In The Unseen Realm

Light and dark are opposites in the unseen realm
Yet in the dark is where light is found
But in light no dark can be found
When light is sought dark shadows follow
Trying to hold on to the soul’s pain,
Its angst, its sorrow, and its lament
For dark does not want the soul to be free
But to languish in the depths of spiritual death
And in this light meets the downtrodden soul
Shining upon the captive dark
That will always run from the light
Because dark cannot withstand the purity of light’s truth
It trembles and fears its death in the light
Yet in the dark is where light is found
Light and dark opposites in the unseen realm

The Vain Of Pride

Sammi Cox Weekend Writing Prompt #63 – Crumble

The length of your poem / prose must match the number of 88 words stated in this week’s challenge. No more. No less.

The Vain Of Pride

In the vain of pride
comes a death inside
a crumble of one’s soul
dying one day at a time
the constant thought of self
leaves one parched like
a desert with no oasis
with an insatiable hunger
for things with no sustenance
and when all has been achieved
tis but a vainglory momentary
leaving the soul a cemetery
upon unhallowed ground
where no hope can be found…

In this look to the skies
where light is shone
upon the crumbled soul
and there one shall find life!

The length of your poem / prose must match 101 words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.

The Zephyr Of Grace

A soft gentle breeze kissed
her soul’s tears
comfort came and
held her close
until the tears dried up

The sunshine warmed
her within and
a smile dawned upon
her sweet little face
of pain there was no trace

And through the healing
she danced once again
the song in her heart revealing
loving touch from her Friend
a touch eternal

She grew strong to dance
through all life’s seasons
bringing joy to all who
cross her path
a joy eternal

She continues on till this day
her gratitude carries her along
to walk a love-filled sway
a sway eternal
