Outbuildings at Hethel

As a little girl growing up

living in a house of darkness

I developed this mechanical gadget

that helped me survive the atrocities

the only way a child could all on her own

As I grew into a young adult

this darkness would continue to rule

over my life attracting the darkness repeatedly

until this mechanical gadget could no

longer help me survive and finally broke…

Yet, this was the most beautiful day of my life

for I called out to no one but the One who would

pick up all the broken pieces of my mechanical gadget

and through His tender velvet touches of Grace

turned my mechanical gadget into a heart of love.

Resting In Weeping

Jilly’s 28 Days Of Unreason Poetry – Day 13

Write a poem inspired by this quote:

“I took a nap and wept for no reason” – by Jim Harrison – from Songs of Unreason

Resting In Weeping

Sometimes I weep for what I think
is no particular reason…

But as my tears pass it becomes
known to me that I weep for…

The atrocities happening
in the world
yesterday, today, and tomorrow
that are continuously unending
from one generation to the next

Souls that are reviled
body’s that are defiled
the afflicted ones desperately seeking
a Greater Love…but are persecuted
by the ones who ought to be giving it

The children who endure
undeserved cruelty
that strips them
of their innocence…

But in this weeping
I rest knowing
it is for a greater purpose
than the self bogus
