Every Step Taken
In Response To:
Crimson’s Creative Challenge #115 – Every Wednesday I post a photo. You respond with something CREATIVE.
The journey looks straightforward
as far as my eyes can see
then I begin one step at a time
in my stride I reach to where
my eyes could see before I started
and behold the path is no longer straight
it is broken, rugged, leading to
places I did not intend to go
with obstacles, twists, turns and confusion
losing my way to becoming
beaten down, weary, and ever so lost…
Then Love invited me to take His Hand
to lead me in a different way to walk this journey
a way called life still filled with the
same obstacles, twists, turns and confusion
only this time empowered with
the Strength of Grace…
Sometimes painful, sometimes seeming hopeless
yet, for every sorrow, struggle and tear wept
there is a promised healing birthing the
scars of Ancient Wisdom gained that
brings with it a bold, confident courage to carry on
with revitalized hope and appreciation
for every step taken

a fellow human being

of God
always conveying this truth
to others in words and

Tragedy To Triumph
MLMM First Line Friday Writing Challenge – “His smile was like some kind of magic.”
I’ll provide the first line, you get to write whatever comes afterward. Length, genre, and structure are completely up to you. Feel free to modify the line as you see fit, adding punctuation, quotes, or other bits if so desired. Or for more of a challenge, change nothing.
His smile was some kind of magic
but little did she know it would become tragic
Oh yes he had the smile and the swag
that blinded her to all the warning flags
His sensual sounding baritone voice would utter
all the words she desired and would melt her like butter
She was mesmerized into slavery by his command
and gave herself in ways her soul could not withstand
As time went on to his words of love he became untrue
her skin now wore the hues of black and blue
She cried out for help in the silent screams of her soul
heaven heard and cloaked her in a courage camisole
She rose to stand and gave him over to the court’s reprimand
and vowed never again to visit this deadly wasteland
With a redeemed soul her vow she has kept
and remains grateful for the tears wept
She tells her story a song of hope to the broken
that they no longer remain downtrodden
Her tragedy taught her to never trust a smile of magic
instead triumph by always putting faith in Perfect Love authentic
