The journey looks straightforward

as far as my eyes can see

then I begin one step at a time

in my stride I reach to where

my eyes could see before I started

and behold the path is no longer straight

it is broken, rugged, leading to 

places I did not intend to go

with obstacles, twists, turns and confusion

losing my way to becoming 

beaten down, weary, and ever so lost…

Then Love invited me to take His Hand

to lead me in a different way to walk this journey

a way called life still filled with the

same obstacles, twists, turns and confusion

only this time empowered with 

the Strength of Grace…

Sometimes painful, sometimes seeming hopeless

yet, for every sorrow, struggle and tear wept

there is a promised healing birthing the

scars of Ancient Wisdom gained that

brings with it a bold, confident courage to carry on

with revitalized hope and appreciation

for every step taken

Like the ground frozen over

in the midst of the bitter cold

so can the heart become also

filled with unnourished dead weeds

leaving the heart in a comatose state

yet when a seed of tenderness is

sown into an unhealed heart it

shall melt the bitter cold

creating abundantly fertile soil

that sprouts new hope filled life

flowing with eternal springs of 

Living Waters!

gather together as a symbol

of trust for the townspeople

a tradition that has been

carried on for over a century

giving strength to this town

hope to the people that they

have always been able to 

rely on and come together

as a whole to weather life

and not lose their integrity

through division by pride

instead remain a humble town

that does more than just survive

they continue to flourish

a priceless and rare jewel

in this world’s scarcity of humility.

Can one permit hope

for the worn and weathered

years of life taking its toll

when weariness is the lyrics

that the outer shell sings

off key due to pain and fatigue

the high pitch notes that scream

louder than the inner happiness…

 

Can one permit hope

with a mustard seed of faith

in the Grace where our hope is found

that reminds us that this is but

a temporary suffering

for in the dawn of a new morn

this passes and the outer shell

has a renewed strength

the gift of a heightened faith

in a Love that bears all things.
