Bridge over a pond in the winter, Johannapark, Leipzig, Germany

In the darkness of early morn
with candles of inspiration my heart is adorn
like glistering ornaments that embellish a tree
a snowfall of gifts so from stress I am free

I stroll to the kitchen to create a miraculous recipe
a secret rice porridge for the soul to reap
it begins with a fire that can never be extinguished
upon it sits a cauldron simmering with living water untarnished

Biting my nails with anticipation I begin
to add the captivating ingredients that have been
known to stir the Christmas Love from within

First, I add in some warmth from the family heart
then sweet oranges picked from a tree rooted deeply in earth
next, I cast in some bitter cloves that remind us to be grateful
for all the precious blessings that fill our soul plentiful

Last but not least I stir in the medicinal cinnamon bark
to warm the spirit that has become so coldly stark
bring the ingredients to a roaring boil and then simmer down
and drink of this tincture everytime you begin to frown

And your soul will be graced with the Christmas Love Crown
that you will be able to don all year round!
