For though my faith is not yours and your faith is not mine, if we each are free to light our own flame, together we can banish some of the darkness of the world.

Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this too, was a gift.

Imperfection and perfection go so hand in hand, and our dark and our light are so intertwined, that by trying to push the darkness or negative aspects of our life to the side…we are preventing ourselves from the fullness of life.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #105 – PROMPT: “Only if I knew it then” – Wistfulness.
Oh those “only if” or “if only’s” that at one time held me down in such unnecessary melancholy. Through the many seasons of growing I have come to realize that the wisdom I know today would have been futile for me to know back then. I was not spiritually enlightened enough to receive it. I had to go through those years of the foolishness of “spiritual bankruptcy” in order to grow into the wisdom of “spiritual riches.”
Today I have learned not to dwell in the sad longing of “what ifs” and instead use the lessons learned through hindsight that become the wisdom of foresight. By doing this I have broken the cycle of insanity’s “doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result” to a sane mind that makes new and different choices bringing peace of mind.

V.J. Weekly Challenge #62: Child/Childhood – Ponder what it means to be a child.
A child of darkness
a child of light
a child of weakness
a child of might
A child of weeping
a child of laughter
a child of dreaming
a child of slaughter
A child of love and hate
both became this child’s fate
the warring within raged
a tender sparrow’s imprisoned cage
One day an Angel came
opened the cage to set her free
this sparrow’s life was never the same
she was free to fly, free to breathe
War turned to peace clarity beckoned
finally she was able to sing her song
through Wisdom she now reckoned
it was to Love she knew she belong
Blessed is this precious sparrow
who has known darkness’s tragedy
for the dawn of every new tomorrow
hope has become her soul’s melody.

As a little girl growing up
living in a house of darkness
I developed this mechanical gadget
that helped me survive the atrocities
the only way a child could all on her own
As I grew into a young adult
this darkness would continue to rule
over my life attracting the darkness repeatedly
until this mechanical gadget could no
longer help me survive and finally broke…
Yet, this was the most beautiful day of my life
for I called out to no one but the One who would
pick up all the broken pieces of my mechanical gadget
and through His tender velvet touches of Grace
turned my mechanical gadget into a heart of love.
