Word For The Day…

From:  Gratefulness.org

There is within each of us a modulation, an inner exaltation, which lifts us above the buffetings with which events assail us. Likewise, it lifts us above dependence upon the gifts of events for our joy.

Mystical Beauty

NaPoWriMo Challenge 2019 – Day 23

The Haunted Wordsmith Opposites Attract & Elemental Writing Challenges

Opposites Attract:  Today’s prompt: retain – Antonyms: give up, hand over, release, relinquish, surrender, yield.

Elemental Challenge:  This week’s focus is Earth.  Today’s prompt and image: mystical.

Although the earth is thousands of years old

worn, torn, damaged, and deteriorating

even so, by God’s grace, there are jewels to find

that still retain their mystical beauty

to be enamored, cherished, held sacred and holy

a reason to be grateful and rejoice for these free gifts

remembering to relinquish not our reverent admiration!

This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to cherry blossoms (sakura).

NaPoWriMo 2019 Challenge

Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem of gifts and joy. What would you give yourself, if you could have anything? What would you give someone else?

The joy of springtime

brings many gifts to enjoy

cherry blossom love

warm sunshine to light our path

filling us with gratitude

~ * ~

Our souls then flourish

with a venturesome spirit

stepping out afar

the confine safety of self

bringing these gifts to others

~ * ~

To awake souls wings

and fly beyond this earth’s realm

in joyous freedom

these incorruptible gifts

of joy and love I would give

~ * ~

The priceless riches

that can never be purchased

given by Love’s grace

to all who ask willingly

and will receive faithfully
