Silently in a momentary hiatus
from this past year’s journey
I reflect on blessings received
and give offerings of gratitude
with hopeful expectations
of the good that will come
in the Grace filled New Year!

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #108 – PROMPT: You can choose any one line out of the seven given here, and use it as the first line for your piece. Here are the seven lines to choose from:
“For I have known them all already, known them all:
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons;
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.”

“Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave
Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind;
Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.”
Source:“Dirge Without Music” by Edna St. Vincent Millay:
For I have already known them all
through the risings and the falls
evenings, mornings, afternoons
life’s tragic and comedic cartoons
drowning darkness of the grave
bold courage it takes to be brave
the ugly, the callous, and unrefined
the beautiful, the tender, and kind
a plan for me that was pre-designed
and to this plan…I am finally resigned.

dVerse Tuesday Poetics – Opposites Attract, Or Do They?
We should have many different takes on this prompt. It’s wide open — as long as you somehow employ antithesis or something/s that is/are opposite.
The antiquity of evil
is as new and fresh today
as it was back then…
then before time began
As it is with good
from days of Ancient
seeking darkness to shine
its light upon…
The strife and peace
within the soul warring
against each other for the
conquest to become monarch
As the other becomes a
captive slave awaiting an
opportunity to arise to
to duel again and…
The insanity of this
lifelong conflict becomes
the sane everyone accepts
as the normal until…
The soul collapses in defeat
of warring with itself and
resistance weakness births
surrender into strength by
the power of the true and only
Sovereign Good.
