Summer Waves – Haibun

Written In Response To:

Frank J. Tassone Haikai Challenge (6/8/19):  fragrant breeze (kunpuu) – This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to a fragrant breeze (kunpuu). And even though it has already passed, you may also allude to the 75th D-Day Anniversary.

Spring path.

Oftentimes we have summer in our soul and at other times we do not depending on our “spiritual seasons.”  And for some depending on where they live they get to enjoy a whole entire season of summer outside. But for some of us who live in a different type of area, even though the season is called “summer” the weather contradicts the definition of that word.  Then when there is an actual summer day, warm with calm winds, because of trials inside it is the dead of Winter. But the good news is if the soul clings tight to Hope’s surfboard and breathes the waves will hush because it embraced the dark shadow, redeemed it and so becomes whole to once again have summer in the soul…which is the good that always comes from each and every season embraced.

riding the season

whether inside or outside

fragrant breeze kissed

The Lull

The Lull

Sitting in a space

where words cannot be spoken

and the ache of the pain

cannot be…bewailed

where the winds of anger

blow ever so fierce

the lull of depression

sings it‘s laments

and the eyes of the soul

fall heavy with fatigue

where the voices of the mind say

lay down to sleep and maybe

tomorrow Love, will awaken you.

The Sorrows Of Silence

BrewNSpew Cafe – Word Of The Week

doldrums – (noun) – a state or period of inactivity, stagnation, or depression. Synonyms – inactive, quiet, slow, slack, sluggish, subdued, inert, flat, dull.

Taiki-chū no chinmoku (The Silence of Waiting)

Each day a new day

the refreshment of new things

don’t always come to pass

some days the doldrums

of the sorrows of silence

take hold once again

as I long for the Presence

to speak the promises I await

but waiting to hear seems

to be my only fate

nature’s seasons are but months

but the soul’s seasons can be years

filled with so many tears

holding on can become a weary task

it is then I must drink from Hope’s flask

to continue on to my future’s promised destiny.

Behold – Triple Shadorma Poem

Weekly Tanka Prompt Poetry Challenge – Week #89 – Breeze & Arrived

The “Weekly Tanka Challenge Prompt” is now also a Poetry Prompt Challenge (any form)

Spring arrived
with rain as its theme
winds not breeze
green beauty
cleansing the earth, air, and soul
refreshed is the path

to walk on
to new adventures
change and growth
live and love
beyond human thoughts and dreams
soaring higher still

than what is
seen here on this earth
The Spirit
leading us
into realms that are unknown
behold Great Wisdom
