Subtraction

In Response To:

V.J.’s Weekly Challenge #79 – Subtraction – This week think about what you might subtract from your life to free up energy – emotionally, physically, or psychologically. Naturally, creative discretion is yours – this doesn’t need to be a personal subtraction; global issues work too.

Pancake Ice ~ ice crystals that form in very cold water that is moving too fast to let the ice form into a sheet. Antarctica

A melting away

of facades

helping to hide the

shattered pieces

of a child’s soul

that defined who

the child would become

a reflection of the

damage inflicted through

generational cycles

now has become

the addition of

Love’s intervention

for the shattered soul

to become whole.

Resigned Sojourn

Written In Response To:

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #108 – PROMPT: You can choose any one line out of the seven given here, and use it as the first line for your piece.  Here are the seven lines to choose from:

“For I have known them all already, known them all:

Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons;

I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.”

Source: “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” by T.S. Eliot

“Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave

Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind;

Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.

I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.”

Source:“Dirge Without Music” by Edna St. Vincent Millay:

For I have already known them all

through the risings and the falls

evenings, mornings, afternoons

life’s tragic and comedic cartoons

drowning darkness of the grave

bold courage it takes to be brave

the ugly, the callous, and unrefined

the beautiful, the tender, and kind

a plan for me that was pre-designed

and to this plan…I am finally resigned.

Tears Of Light

Written In Response To:

BrewNSpew Cafe – Word Of The Week Challenge – Weekly Prompt – Let’s add a little twist to the challenge based on the quote by Hosea Ballou. You may use the quote or any part of it and/or the image for this week’s prompt. Stay cool and out of the heat and most of all have fun!

Tears of joy are like the summer rain drops pierced by sunbeams.
– Hosea Ballou.

tears of joy, tears of sorrow

Light pierces all drops of rain

that are shed by the soul

joy is borne from sweet sorrows wept

weeping is soul’s path to healing
