Inner Truth

BrewNSpew Cafe – Word Of The Week – Pretend

NaPoWriMo Challenge 2019 – Day 8 – April 8, 2019

V.J.’s Weekly Challenge #43: Rain

The Haunted Wordsmith Opposites Attract Challenge – April 8, 2019

I provide one word and a list of its antonyms. The challenge is to use the prompt word AND one (or more) of its antonyms in some form of writing (or creative work).

Today’s word: underestimate.

Antonyms: overestimate, overrate, overvalue.

Espelho

While inside my heart there is rain

I pretend that on the outside

there are crystal blue waters,

sunshine, and lemon yellow blossoms

a facade to hide my secret pain

that I thought would help me

hold back the levee of tears…

~ * ~

But I underestimated the strength of the strain

and overestimated the weakness of my facade

I then realized that this plan was so very flawed

I knew I had to allow the unspoken words

of my heart to have their say

to transform my outer display

into my inner truth.

A Woman Worth Loving

Antonia’s Freeform Friday Prompt – March 8, 2019

This week you can either chose from the previous words: gritty, blue, calm

or soft, rain, spirals (any two or all three words anywhere in the text)

Rain Photography 6

Soft, loving spirals of rain

calm her soul’s gritty, blue pain

cleansing and healing

the bleeding cuts within

rain providing the freedom

to cry her soul’s tears

that no other may see her fears

and know her ache for a true love to behold

able to admire her entire being

cherishing her sensuality

instead of degrading her beauty

so her heart can dance to the rhythm

of her arched back that says…

I am a woman worth loving.

She awoke to look beyond out to the horizon
a dark foreboding began to stir deep within her
not another storm she thought…
for her soul was already wrought

The last seven years she has been hit with
storms of the mind, storms of the heart
with a relentless rain of oppression and poverty
she has been treading water in this flood and now
her muscles have grown ever so weak
and her voice has become to fragile to speak
her prayers are an unending well of tears
yet she holds fast to anger as her driving force
to survive this unbroken chain of storms
how she desperately seeks to find shelter
the winds blew away her umbrella of hope

She watches for a rainbow to ride the sky
yet these storms never pass long enough
for one to shine its colors of promise
she calls out for the Great Hand to be
her life-saver that she not drown
but the Great Hand’s power remains silent
like a small ship she looks for a lighthouse
to swim to for shelter but finds naught…

Her only recourse left is to ride this storm out
pray that in the morn she will awaken to a drought
to see the Sun shine its rays of hope once again.
and this seven year season finally come to an end.

Weekly Tanka Prompt Poetry Challenge – Week #89 – Breeze & Arrived

The “Weekly Tanka Challenge Prompt” is now also a Poetry Prompt Challenge (any form)

Behold

Spring arrived
with rain as its theme
winds not breeze
green beauty
cleansing the earth, air, and soul
refreshed is the path

to walk on
to new adventures
change and growth
live and love
beyond human thoughts and dreams
soaring higher still

than what is
seen here on this earth
The Spirit
leading us
into realms that are unknown
behold Great Wisdom
