IWH Haiku/Senryu Challenge #30 – How would you interpret this image below?

rooted in silence

a tongue that only spoke death

beauty of quiet

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit

and bear the consequences of their words.

Dance Of Forgiveness

NaPoWriMo Challenge 2019 – Day 10

Your Daily Word Prompt – Flower – April 10, 2019

Word Of The Day Challenge – Vengeance

The Haunted Wordsmith Elemental Writing Challenge April 10, 2019

For this challenge, we will explore one of the four elements: air, earth, water, fire.  This week’s focus is Fire.  Simply use the word and/or image provided and be inspired by the natural element.

Today’s prompt and image: sizzling.

Sometimes another person’s tongue

can lead me into temptingly dark

thoughts of seeking vengeance embark

like cutting out the tongue leaving it

on a sizzling fire to burn split

and disintegrate into ashes lame

so no longer a soul it will defame…

but, then, by grace a better thought

comes to mind to relieve my distraught

and I choose the action of repentance

desiring to let love be the flower

that radiates its fragrance in my heart’s tower

allowing forgiveness to become the music I dance.

Over The Years

Your Daily Word Prompt – Drench – April 3, 2019

NaPoWriMo2019 – Day 3 – Write something that involves a story or action that unfolds over an appreciable length of time.

Twittering Tales #130 April 3, 2019 –  Each Tuesday I will provide a photo prompt. Your mission, if you choose to accept the challenge, is to tell a story in 280 characters or less.

Photo Prompt:

Over the years…

there were so many things

I did want to say

but never did because

I did not know the Love

that lives in my heart today

~ * ~

And then there were the things

I didn’t want to say

but alas, I did say them

whilst drenched in the midst of

the pain and anger of words

spoken that cut my heart

to bleed and speak its revenge

~ * ~

Then, little by little, step by step

through the years Grace divine

has healed the wounds refine

and blessed this tongue to speak kind

to no longer hurt the broken who

lash out as a shield of protection

instead pour out healing’s intention

so that they may drink from

the Julep of forgiven.

Proverbs 18:21 (AMPC)

Let Us Speak Life – Freestyle Poem

The Daily Post – Narcissism

Sammi Cox Weekend Writing Prompt #55 – Twaddle

This weekend the challenge is to write a poem or a piece of prose in exactly 98 words.

Let Us Speak Life

Proverbs 18:21

Let our tongues not twaddle
the words that cut into another’s soul
nor encourage the world’s narcissism

Let our tongues not twaddle
seeds of negativity that cradle
the power to diminish hope’s gold

Let our tongues not twaddle
the attitudes of hate and discrimination
or the rape of defamation

But Do…

Let us speak
the power of love
into another’s heart

Let us speak
the words that
build another’s worth

Let us speak
faith to overcome
the fools that do twaddle…

For the tongue has the power
of life and death
let us always strive
to speak life!
