The basic premise of the Haiku Sonnet is simple: 4 3-liner haiku plus a couplet of either 5 or 7 syllables adds up to 14 lines, the same number of lines found in a sonnet.
The Haunted Wordsmith Genre – Elemental – Opposites Attract Challenges.
Genre: The purpose of this challenge is to push ourselves to dip our toes in other genres than we normally write in. Today’s genre: Haiku Sonnet.
Opposites Attract: For this challenge, I provide one word and a list of its antonyms. The challenge is to use the prompt word AND one (or more) of its antonyms in some form of writing (or creative work).
Today’s prompt: restful – Antonyms: boisterous, clamorous, clattery, deafening, loud, noisy, raucous, rip-roaring, roistering, romping, rowdy, tumultuous, unquiet, uproarious, woolly (also wooly).
Elemental: For this challenge, we will explore one of the four elements: air, earth, water, fire. This week’s focus is Water. Simply use the word and/or image provided and be inspired by the natural element.
Today’s prompt and image: cascading.
cascading water
restful for the peace of mind
freedom from unquiet
gentle droplets spray
the face causing refreshment
breathe in cooling touch
listening to nature
guiding my meditation
soothing music heard
soul lays in stillness
freed is mind from distractions
our hearts joined as One
my Beloved and I fused
in unity unbroken
